1. I asked a few loyal readers for some suggestions for Easter-menu ideas and one pointed me to the Williams & Sonoma recipe page. This is where I stumbled on the Apple and Cranberry Galette. A galette is some kind of flat and round pastry (via Wiki), but I’m just going to say it’s a pretty easy pie crust and doesn’t take much effort. I didn’t stray too far from the recipe except I let my cranberries open up a little more than called for. You can see how much more red my dish was prior to baking. Even though this recipe claims it’s great for Thanksgiving (I bet it is), I think it’s probably acceptable all year around. It resembles an apple pie and would go great with ice cream or served chilled.
